We are seeking an apprentice to serve a 4year training programme as a Plant Service Fitter/Engineer within the Diesel Plant/mobile plant sector. As an apprentice you will be involved in Maintenance and repairs on Plant items such as excavators, FLT’s, Wheeled tippers, loading shovels and anything associated within Inspection and servicing.

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Preparation, installation and handover of complex technologically advanced machinery, plant and equipment and the verification of its performance to the manufacturer’s specification and customers satisfaction
  • Diagnosis and repair of complex faults in machinery, plant and equipment
  • Conducting complex repairs of machinery, equipment, and their components which may include supervising a junior colleague to assist in aspects of the repair.
  • Conducting inspections of machines and the compilation of machinery condition reports
  • Compilation of repair proposals, estimates and quotations and the implementation of timely and cost-effective repairs

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • The qualification you will achieve at the end of your apprenticeship is a Level 3 advanced apprenticeship in Land Based Service Engineer in Construction Plant
  • You will come to Reaseheath College on a block release, 9 weeks in college per year, delivered in 3 x 3-week block release courses over 3 years

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

After this course you can continue to progress within the industry or study a degree at university.
