The Cheshire Kitchen Company are a family run business who have been established for nearly 15 years.  We are bespoke kitchen and furniture designers and manufacturers based near Tarporley, Cheshire.  We have a showroom premises in Clotton as well as our workshop premises and design studio which is located in Utkinton.

We design and manufacture kitchens and all types of bespoke furniture, such as bedrooms, media walls, dining tables etc, bars/drinks units etc.

We are currently looking for an Apprentice Cabinet Maker/Bench Joiner to join our team.  We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard working individual who is eager to learn and takes pride in their work.   The role will involve all aspects of bespoke kitchen and furniture manufacture.

Description –

  • Studying Plans and Specifications: As a cabinet maker apprentice, you’ll study plans, specifications, or drawings of articles to be made. This involves understanding the design and dimensions of the furniture or cabinets you’ll be creating.
  • Trimming Joints and Fitting Parts: You’ll be responsible for preparing specifications, trimming joints, and fitting parts and subassemblies together to form complete units. This includes ensuring that the pieces fit precisely and securely.
  • Creating and Maintaining Records: In addition to hands-on work, cabinet maker apprentices may also create and maintain records of the work they’ve done. This documentation helps track progress and ensures quality control.
  • Selecting Materials: Understanding and selecting timber and timber products for furniture production is another essential skill. You’ll learn about different types of wood and their properties.
  • Measuring and Drawing Site Layouts: Cabinet maker apprentices measure and draw site layouts for manufactured furniture. This step is crucial for accurate assembly and installation.
  • Installing Hardware: You’ll also gain experience in selecting and installing hardware for furnishings, such as handles and hinges.
  • Hand finishing: Hand finishing of items
  • Edgebanding: Use of automatic edgebanding machine to apply appropriate edges to materials.

General duties:  Assisting with general workshop house keeping – always ensuring that the workshop is kept clean, tidy and organised.  Assisting with deliveries to and from site as required.

 

After successful completion of an apprenticeship, there would be the opportunity for full-time employment in the role of Bench

Joiner/Cabinet Maker within the company. Further down the line, there

could be potential for progression into a Workshop/Production Manager role.

Training

  • Reaseheath Training will be the apprenticeship provider for this Level 2 apprenticeship.
  • The employer will give guidance and support throughout
  • Off-the-job training must make up at least 20% of the apprentice’s contracted hours, over the total duration of the apprentice’s planned training period
  • This Standard apprenticeship may include Functional Skills in maths, English & ICT
