Farm Worker Apprentice

We are seeking a hardworking and enthusiastic individual to join our team and support both the poultry and beef sides of our business. This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in two key agricultural sectors and develop skills in general farm management.

Role Responsibilities:

Poultry:

• Feeding and maintaining the wellbeing of 28,000 free-range hens.
• Managing egg packing, utilizing modern, up-to-date technology.

Beef Cattle:

• Caring for and feeding 250 beef cattle.
• Learning traditional beef husbandry through calf rearing, from 2-3 weeks old up to 20 months.

Farm Management:

• Supporting general farm management and fieldwork across a 140-acre site.
• Contributing to the production of high-quality hay and silage to support beef cattle.
• Assisting with general farm maintenance, ensuring machinery cleanliness and upkeep.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Stock management, including duties related to herd management using up-to-date handling facilities.

About the Business: The business operates across two sites near the villages of Woore and Aston, covering approximately 140 acres. One of the sites is a recent acquisition with exciting future potential. The farm features two free-range poultry sheds housing 28,000 laying hens and corresponding free-range acreage. The beef cattle are spread across both sites, with younger calves being reared at the original Aston Farm site.
