What qualifications will the apprentice gain?
- Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Food Technologist
- Functional Skills or GCSE in English and Maths depending on previous qualifications
Study Information
- Food technology principles – including food chemistry, food industry standards, microbiology, pest control and continuous improvement management
- Food business principles – including audit processes, costs and quality, food supply chains, management systems, product development and risk management
- Food technology practices – including collecting and analysing data, product costing, product trials, problem solving, root cause analysis and sensory analysis
- Communications – including building relationships with customers and suppliers and influencing, negotiating, presentation, written and verbal skills
- Health and safety practices and legislation within a food production environment – including food safety, environmental, hygiene standards and hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP)
- Functional Skills or GCSE in English and Maths depending on previous qualifications
How much will this course cost?
Apprenticeships are funded through government and employer contributions. If the apprentice is:
- 16-18 working for a small business (<50) their training will be fully funded*
- 19+ or working for a Medium size business (50+) an employer contribution may be required
- Working for a large business or organisation (Payroll of £3m+) training is funded from employers Digital Apprenticeship Service Account
*small businesses who employ an apprentice between 16-18 may be eligible to receive a financial government incentive
