Trainee Milking Machine Engineer

M R Dean LTD is a leading engineering firm specialising in the supply, installation, and service of milking parlours for dairy farms across the Midlands, Staffordshire, Shropshire and North Wales. Due to our ongoing expansion, we are seeking a motivated Trainee Dairy Engineer to join our highly proficient team.

Job Description:

We are looking for a dedicated individual eager to start a career in dairy engineering. The ideal candidate will have some experience or education in agriculture or engineering, with a keen interest in learning and developing their skills. This role offers comprehensive training and the opportunity to grow within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

· Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of milking parlours .

· Learn to diagnose, trouble shoot and solve technical issues under the guidance of experienced engineers.

· Support the team in meeting tight deadlines and working under pressure.

· Develop problem-solving skills and innovative thinking.

· Develop product knowledge

· Maintain a clean and organised workspace

· Provide excellent customer service and communication.

 

Once fully trained you will be expected to often work alone and also to work out of hours on a rota basis. An extra allowance is in place irrespective of any call outs, while overtime is paid if call out is necessary.

 

About You:

You will have a positive attitude and a good degree of common sense. Due to the nature of the industry, you will be prepared to work in a highly manual and physical role

You must be comfortable working on farms / in a farming environment, where you will have regular interaction with Farmers, farm workers, livestock, heavy machinery and mud!

Whilst all relevant and technical training will be provided, you should possess the below as stipulated

Essential skills and experience:

· Interest in agriculture and engineering.

· Strong communication and teamwork skills.

· Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

· Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.

· Highly organised and self-motivated.

· Excellent IT skills

· Full UK Driving Licence (or working towards) as a vehicle will be provided upon training completion

Desirable skills and experience:

· Previous experience or qualification in agricultural environments or engineering, particularly experience in a dairy-related industry

· Engineering work

· Welding

· Fabrications

· Plumbing
